Harper Bridges

Banchory, R.Feugh, 1893

From John Douglass of Tilquillie, Feugh Cottage, Banchory, Aberdeenshire.

"I wish to express to you my entire satisfaction with the Bridge you put up for me over the Feugh. It fully comes up to my expectations."

This bridge is still in private use, just upstream of the Falls of Feugh and roadbridge.   Louis Harper was involved in its design and erection, but it had features of the earlier bridges (wooden pylons and deck tensioners).

Later modifications include the replacement of the wooden pylons with steel 'I' beams, but the cable tensioners, saddles and finials are the same today.  The finials are a smaller version  of the globe of later finials, and without the cone.  It has a fine new deck.
