GNR at Lincoln, c1889
Louis Harper built a foot suspension bridge over the GNR at Lincoln - probably the predecessor of the present Pelham Street pedestrian bridge at Lincoln Station.
The picture shows the bridge of 70 foot span, arched and supported by cables tensioned at deck level by Harpers patent cable tensioners. Wooden steps and balustrades complete the access. The mastheads bear the Louis Harper finials. |
